Here is a sneak peak of the eponymous short story. Peggy is getting ready for her date with Bigfoot.  Until tonight, their relationship has existed entirely online. She is in her bedroom with her best friend Megan and her younger sister Denise.

“We exchanged pictures,” said Peggy. She grabbed a small, bejeweled picture frame off the dresser. She tossed it roughly to Megan who had to roll to the side to avoid being hit. It lands harmlessly on the bed.

Megan picked it up. Obviously Peggy has printed it out from her computer. It showed a large furry creature in mid-stride walking in a clearing. He is turned to face the camera. The picture is quite blurry. The original must have been small as it is also quite pixelated.

“This is the picture he sent you?” said Megan.

“Yes.” said Peggy.

Denise crossed her arms and shot her a stern look.

“What? Okay he didn’t send it to me. It’s from his profile,” said Peggy.

“This picture is the famous frame 352 from the Patterson-Gimlin film.” said Megan. Peggy and Denise just looked at her blankly.

“This picture was taken in 1967!” said Megan.

“Maybe it was Throwback Thursday?” said Denise. Peggy shrugged. Denise hopped off the bed and began to look for shoes.

“I thought you were on my side?” said Megan.

“I know a girl who was catfished online,” said Denise. “”She talked to this guy online for six months. He told her he was a rapper. He seemed very nice. On their first date, it turns out he was nothing but a catfish.”

“That’s not true,” said Peggy.

“Yup. Mekong giant catfish. 10 feet long, 600 lbs.” said Denise.

“A Mekong giant catfish?” said Megan. “But aren’t they native to the Mekong basin in Southeast Asia?”

“”I think she said he was here on business,” said Denise.
